Coming Soon to a Door Near You…

literaturepicforFB

Our campaign is growing by the day! We had a fantastic time connecting with voters in Old Town Laurel and Piney Orchard during this President’s Day Weekend. Will you join us?

If you are on the fence about volunteering and the thought of knocking on doors with a campaign makes you a little uncomfortable, rest assured, we will teach you how to do it and partner you with an experienced door-knocker. We have a list of voters to reach before the June 26th primary, so you will not be knocking on random doors.

Your time and enthusiasm is a great gift to spread our message: We need experienced leadership with energy, integrity and a focus on constituent needs.

Volunteer here.

Mary LOVES Maryland! A Fundraising Event for Mary Lehman on 2.10.18

signing the papers.jpgPlease join us to show Mary Lehman some love in her campaign for Delegate in 2018! We are hosting a light breakfast so that voters can meet and greet with Mary Lehman. This is a fundraising event and all levels of financial support are much appreciated! Even a donation of $10.00 helps us advertise and increase the reach of Mary’s campaign.

We are so thankful to Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department for hosting this event. Mary has been a strong supporter of local volunteer fire companies throughout her tenure as a Prince George’s County Councilwoman. She successfully sponsored legislation that increased retired volunteer’s pensions, and worked for years to pass CB-003-2017, which expanded health coverage for volunteer members. Mary loves the men and women who put their lives on the line for our communities, and she will be a strong voice for you in Annapolis.

Here are all the details:

Date: Saturday, February 10

Time: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Mary’s Team Joins Rally to Protect Women and Children from Domestic Violence

While I was working on the Prince George’s County Council on Tuesday morning, members of my campaign team went to Annapolis to participate in Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America’s Advocacy Day. This year, Moms Demand has worked with Delegate Vanessa Atterbeary and Senator William Smith to close a dangerous loophole in our gun laws. The bill my team supports would require those convicted of domestic violence to relinquish guns already in their possession prior to the conviction. As it stands, domestic abusers cannot purchase a new weapon, but there is no mechanism in place to compel them to turn in guns that they already own.

With a place in the Maryland legislature, you could count on my continuous support of common sense gun reform. Although I was cheering my team from afar on Tuesday, I believe that we must do everything we can to protect citizens from gun violence. Domestic abusers have no business owning guns, and survivors deserve our protection.

A Week Connecting with Community Members

I have had an incredible week connecting with voters. I must thank Anne Arundel County’s WISE for including me in their launch of the “Year of the Women” on January 15, 2018. Between their empowering event and the Annapolis March to the Polls on January 20th, I am energized for the journey ahead to victory!!

37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast

With the theme of “Keep on Pushing,” the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Committee hosted their 37th event on Monday, January 15, at Anne Arundel Community College. The event sold out! Attendees gathered to honor Dr. King’s legacy heard a keynote address from Dr. Gail Christopher, D.N. Founder of the Ntianu Center for Nature and Healing, as well as remarks from Congressman Anthony Brown, who represents the 4th Congressional District.

We are reminded of Dr. King’s most lasting words:

“What are we doing for others?”

Mary A. Lehman: Candidate for Delegate in District 21

cropped-maryprofilephoto1.jpg
Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting my webpage. I’m asking you to join me in a spirit of progressive advocacy to secure one of three seats in Maryland Legislative District 21, which is comprised of both Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties.

For the past 14 years, public service has been my calling. Working as a legislative aide for seven years in Upper Marlboro and then Annapolis was truly rewarding. Being elected in 2010 to represent District 1 on the Prince George’s County Council has been the honor of a lifetime. During my tenure, I have advocated policies with an aim to expanding access to Pre-Kindergarten, increasing teacher pay, ensuring safer schools, and placing students on a path to success in pursuing higher education. I have passed legislation to keep Prince George’s County residents healthy, including expanding health coverage for our volunteer firefighters under CB-003-2017. In 2018, my top legislative priority is to ensure that big money stays out of local politics. Across Maryland, we need government officials who represent constituent interests, not the interests of big businesses and PACs. I have a record of working for you.

I have decided to run for a delegate seat in state District 21 to continue the irresistible momentum of the progressive movement. The Democratic primary is June 26, 2018, so there is not a moment to waste. I will need an army of energetic volunteers and committed supporters for a robust campaign. Please check back to this site often to see how you can contribute to the campaign!
